Acceptance and scope

Art. 1.1

These terms apply to the Marin bot in any Discord server, this website, the web dashboard, the web ticket view and the verification portal. If you use any of them, you're accepting these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Marin.

You also have to follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. What we do with your data is in the privacy policy.

Art. 1.2

Who provides Marin

Marin is an independent project built and maintained by its creator (see the creator page). In these terms, "we" means whoever runs Marin.

Marin is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Discord, Roblox or the creators of The Strongest Battlegrounds.

Who can use Marin

Art. 2.1

You need to meet Discord's minimum age: 13, or older if your country requires it.

To use the AI assistant and AI tickets you have to be over 18, because the terms of the Gemini API, which they run on, require it.

You can't use Marin if Discord suspended your account or if we blocked your access for breaking these terms.

What Marin is and isn't

Art. 3.1

Marin is a bot for competitive servers: profiles, leaderboards, ranking, challenges, verification, moderation, tickets, security and an AI assistant. Each module is turned on separately. Most are free; Premium ones are explained in section 8.

Marin is a tool. It isn't your server's staff, it doesn't replace moderators and it doesn't decide who's right in a dispute.

If you run a server

Art. 4.1

What's on you

  • Set Marin up carefully and check that permissions and role hierarchy are what you want.
  • Let your members know which modules you use, especially if you turn on the AI (which reads recent messages) or verification. You can link to our privacy policy.
  • Own the decisions your staff make with Marin: bans, warns, blacklist, verifications and results.
  • Only give web dashboard access to people you trust.
Art. 4.2

Automatic actions

Some modules act on their own depending on how you set them up: Marin Security can remove permissions, kick or ban during an attack; moderation can apply sanctions when a warn limit is reached; verification can flag suspicious accounts. They're meant to help, but they can get it wrong. Check what they do and adjust the settings if needed.

Rules of use

Art. 5.1

Not allowed

  • Using Marin to harass, threaten, discriminate against or expose other people's personal data.
  • Using it for spam, scams, raids or to harm other servers.
  • Trying to get into data, dashboards or servers you don't have access to, or getting around permissions, Premium or usage limits.
  • Deliberately overloading the bot or the website, automating mass requests or scraping.
  • Looking for and exploiting security flaws. If you find one, tell us privately in the support server and don't spread it.
  • Pretending to be someone else, staff or us.
  • Using the AI to create illegal content, sexual content involving minors, hate content or content meant to deceive people.
Art. 5.2

What happens if they're broken

MeasureWhat it meansWho applies it
Assistant lockoutYou can't use the AI for 24 hoursMarin, automatically, if you keep trying to get around its rules
Sanctions inside a serverWarn, mute, kick, ban or blacklist in that serverThat server's staff
Limiting featuresWe remove your access to a specific feature, like the AI or the dashboardUs
Removing PremiumA server loses its Premium modulesUs
Removing Marin from a serverMarin leaves the server and doesn't come backUs

When it's reasonable, we'll warn you first or explain why. If you think we got it wrong, write to us in the support server and we'll look at it again.

The AI assistant

Art. 6.1
  • It's only for people over 18.
  • It makes mistakes: it can make things up or misread a question. Double-check anything important before acting on it.
  • It isn't medical, legal or financial advice.
  • It doesn't speak for your server's staff or for us.
  • What you write to it, and the images, GIFs, videos and audio you send it, go to Google to generate the answer. The details are in the privacy policy.
  • If you ask it to edit an image (adding text or turning it into a GIF), the result is your responsibility. Only use images you have the right to use, and don't use them to impersonate someone, harass anyone or spread something false.
  • You also have to follow Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.

Verification and moderation

Art. 7.1

Verification and moderation give staff information and tools, but they make the decisions. If your verification was rejected or you were sanctioned and you disagree, the appeal goes to that server's staff. We don't reverse other servers' decisions.

Premium

Art. 8.1

Some modules are Premium: Marin Security, AI tickets and the AI with a custom personality. They're turned on for a specific server, with or without an expiry date. More details in the Premium guide.

Right now Premium is arranged directly with us by direct message. These terms don't set prices, payment methods or refunds. If it's ever charged for, the conditions will be published here before anything is charged.

We can remove Premium from a server that breaks these terms.

Intellectual property

Art. 9.1

Marin, its code, name, character, illustrations and icons, and this website belong to us. You can use Marin as described here, but you can't copy it, resell it or pass it off as yours.

What you write or upload is still yours. You only give us permission to store and process it as much as Marin needs to work, as the privacy policy explains. Make sure you have the right to share what you upload.

Discord, Roblox and The Strongest Battlegrounds are trademarks of their respective owners.

The website, dashboard and API

Art. 10.1

The web dashboard lets you change Marin's settings in servers where you have permission. Everything you change there is recorded in the server's history. Don't share your session.

The website uses internal endpoints to work. They aren't a public API: don't use them from other programs, don't automate them and don't try to get around their limits.

Availability and changes to Marin

Art. 11.1

We do our best to keep Marin available, but it can go down for maintenance, bugs, or problems with Discord or the services we use. We can add, change or remove features. If an important change affects you, we announce it in the support server.

Warranties and liability

Art. 12.1

As is

Marin is provided as is and as available. We don't guarantee it works without errors, that it's always online, that automatic actions are always right or that the AI's answers are correct.

Art. 12.2

How far our responsibility goes

To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, lost data, servers damaged by third parties or decisions a server's staff make using Marin. None of this limits rights that your country's law doesn't allow to be limited.

Marin Security helps a lot against attacks, but no tool is foolproof. Keep your own backups and check who has administrator permissions.

Stopping using Marin

Art. 13.1

You can stop using Marin whenever you want: just remove it from the server or stop using its commands. If you also want us to delete your data, ask in the request center.

We can also stop providing Marin to you if you break these terms, or stop providing Marin altogether. If the latter happens, we'll give notice in advance.

Governing law

Art. 14.1

We don't pick a particular law or courts. If there's a problem, the first step is to talk it through: write to us in the support server and we'll look for a solution. If you're a consumer, you keep the rights your country's law gives you.

If any part of these terms isn't valid, the rest still applies.

Changes to these terms

Art. 15.1

We can change these terms. The date of the last update is always at the top, and if a change is important we announce it in the support server before it applies. If you keep using Marin afterwards, you accept the new version.
