How commands are written
Slash, prefix, required and optional arguments, and durations.
Two ways to type
| Form | Example | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Slash | /profile | Discord shows you the fields and checks each value has the right type. |
| Prefix | >profile | You type it like a normal message. The prefix is always >. |
Many commands exist in both forms and work the same. Each command page tells you which ones it has.
Reading the syntax
| Written as | Means |
|---|---|
<value> | Required. |
[value] | Optional. |
a|b | Pick one of the two. |
@user | A Discord mention. |
You don't type the brackets. For example, >warn <@user> [reason] is used like this:
>warn @Nico spam en generalDurations
A number and a unit, no space. >mute and >ban accept s (seconds), m (minutes), h (hours), d (days) and w (weeks), for example 10m or 7d. >blacklist also accepts mo (30-day months) and y (365-day years). Discord doesn't allow a timeout longer than 28 days.
>mute @Nico 30m
